This week I learned quite a bit about a guy
names Randy Paush. He was a pretty incredible man. He had a lot of childhood
dreams, which most of them he was able to achieve. And that is what I would
like to discuss today. I think that having childhood dreams, writing them down
so we don’t forget, and truly believing that we can achieve them through hard
work, persistence, and faith is so critical to having a fulfilling, meaningful
life. I think dreaming is so important because it truly gives hope and life to
the soul. Without dreams or aspirations, I think the soul and the mind and
motivation of man would be dead. One of my childhood dreams is to travel to
space. Now, although I am not going to be an astronaut, I plan on living long
enough and having the financial power that as soon as the space travel agency
finally opens up the public, you better believe that I will be the first one to
buy a ticket. With that being said, how am I going to achieve that? Well this
week I had the opportunity to think about my career path, dreams and goals that
I wanted to achieve throughout my life. Having a dream and goal are important,
but having a stepping stone guide on how you are going to do that is just as
important. Without works, faith is dead. Here is a little bit about how I am going
to achieve that and a little bit about my own pathway to success. My
number one star, or in other words starting with the end in mind, is having a
large family that is close together, get along, and we share much love with
each other. At this point in my life, I want to be fully retired and able to
spend my time and money the way I want to bless the lives of my family,
friends, and others. I want to have accomplished financial freedom, built a
business that will continue to bless the lives of others including my family. I
want to have a nice paid off house with my favorite dream car. I want to have,
or soon will be, serving a mission with my wife in a foreign country. Hopefully
back in Hungary where I served my 2 year mission. Now, let’s start from the
beginning. My first stepping stone is choosing a discipline. That is going to
be business management with finance. This is a critical stepping stone that
will help me get to my star that is along the path to my great #1 star. The Job
that I need to get, and luckily already have, is a management position in the
auto industry so I can learn the ins and outs of that. Like I said, I currently
have that position where I am a sales manager at a dealership. This is helping
me learn how to buy cars, advertise, generate leads and business, work with
customers, create deals, get those deals to lenders, and to finally cash out
those deals for profit. This stepping stone will provide great lessons and knowledge
that I will need to get to my first star, which is to create my own dealership
called Watons Motor Company. After reaching that first star along my path, now
is the time to start growing that company. This star will lead me to my second
star, building passive income to achieve complete financial freedom. Although a
dealership is a cash flowing business, I also want to invest in real estate
that produces income for me each and every month. Using the money that I make
from the dealership, I will buy several properties. Achieving 20,000 dollars in
passive income through various sources will be my next star. After achieving
this star, I will have, or be very close to achieving my #1 star that I spoke
about in the beginning.
This week I have studied several different business topics, but one of the most important ones that I have studied is about ethics and honesty. I work in the auto industry and history has told us that not a lot of people trust car salesmen or managers. If you dont know this, all you need to do is come and work as a salesman or a sales manager for one day and see how the customers treat you. Yes, you will get treated very kindly and well by some people, but a majority of the people come into the dealership with huge, thick walls up. They do this because they do not trust you. Why do they not trust you? Because they have heard of all the horror stories from their friends and relatives of them getting ripped off or cheated from used car salesman. This is what makes my work difficult day in and day out. Learning about ethics and honesty this week was a great reminder to make ethics and honesty a first priority in any field that you go into, any business that you create and with any interac...
